Ok to those of you that read my other post. http://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ApaufaqRvydvI8CAuJy1zWzAFQx.?qid=20070126143122AAwZNI7

Some of you said to steam my face or use a hot wash cloth.
My question is, how come only steam 3 to 4 minutes once a week?
Can't I steam my face once a day or every 2 days? Will it damage my skin if I do it more then once a week?
And can I use a hot wash cloth every day and then steam once a week?

THANKS!!! =D

I don't have a "steamer", I make my own.
I fill the sink with hot steaming water and put a towel over the back on my head and bend over the sink, the towel is now over the back of my head and around the sink to keep in all the steam.

well about your other question. I been using proactive for a week now, and my blackheads went away after 3 days, I had alot of them on my cheeks by my nose. so yes it gets rid of them. it may dry out your skin, so use cetaphil lotion, takes away all the dryness. and proactive is really worht the money!!!

Steaming irritates skin draws blood to the skins delicate cappilaries. Anything that irritates your skin can and will cause some level of damage. The skin tried to fight the percieved attack against it. Over time it can cause broken cappilary veins on your face. Notice I said over time. It won't happen over night or over a few months, but skin damage takes a few years to show up. It also does not have a great impact on blackheads, which are caused by slow skin turnover, you need a proper exfoliant to treat that issue.

I would avoid steaming and washing the face with hot water. Use warm water.

A great remedy for blackheads is a properly ph balanced salicycic acid medication. They are hard to find at the proper ph in drugstores. I use Paula's Choice 2% BHA liquid. You can order samples for about 5 bucks at http://www.cosmeticscop.com.

If you don't want to order over the internet you can also ask your doctor for prescription retinoids like retin-a, retin-a micro or tazorac cream. A low dose formula used in the evenings only should do nicely. Make sure to wear sunscreen if you use any retinoid, it makes the skin photosensitive.

Other options, but rather expensive ones include is mandelic acid and Avene Diacanel (you can order off ebay)

You can steam your face as much as you want. What I like to do with my own skincare regimen is to steam my face first for ten minutes, then I wash my face. I find the steaming opens up the pores and helps the cleanser penetrate more deeply. Then I normally follow with my toner and moisturizer. My high school choir teacher, who got me into this "steamy " business because steam is good for the vocal cords, recommended the 10 minute time limit so as to not become to dehydrated from the steaming.

You can steam your face at least once a day if you want. nu Skin has a product that will help with your breakouts and will not dry your skin out at all. It is very effective on blackheads, red skin, nad there isn't any shiny effects.

It's awesome! I am on hormone pills, so my skin changes all the time and I still never have a problem.

i recognize what you're feeling. I actually have them too ( various them) in user-friendly words on my nostril, they are very seen and extremely demanding to extract. I actually were attempting each and every thing for roughly 10 years, and that i'm sorry to say that no longer some thing has ever really worked. i imagine that in my case that's familiar, my dad has it, gramma, etc. the in user-friendly words component I do to lessen them is ideal right here: i exploit Biore strips, NO they received't get rid of each and every thing and your nostril received't appear like there is not any blackheads, notwithstanding the strips do get rid of various the airborne dirt and mud/oil and makes them a lot less seen I in many cases extract them, it hurts notwithstanding it really works ( I wrap a small piece of loo paper round my 2 index palms to extract them) yet another component you would possibly want to do is steam your face, both w/ a specialist steamer , bathe, or position your face over a bowl with warm water and a towel over your head for a jiffy, then extract the blackheads and keep on with w/ a scrub
