It begins with the people who answer your question and make jokes and snide comments about it. This is something that we all have to contribute to, as a country. People are obviously not taking this matter seriously and it is indeed serious. If these individuals in denial did any research on the matter, they would find that the scientific facts are their.
I myself have become more active in getting my workplace to start recycling, etc. We have no emissions testing where I live and it's wrong. It should be mandatory everywhere.
Excellent question!

Are you kidding?
The feds are already threatened by public opinion and there is nothing more politically damaging than that. If people keep becoming influenced to believe in Global Warming the feds will take action, because if they don't the public will vote them out of office.
So keep listening to the media and the majority of the scientific community if you want to help drive public support for an end to man's contribution to climate change.
The chaotic change of events leading up to change on the federal level was started when the media got their hands on the whole idea.

There are fact on both sides of the discussion. There are many smart people who preach AMEN, Global Warming. There are an equal number it seams that preach AMEN, its a bunch of crap. They are not in denial, they look at the facts and to them it just does not add up. First let me say, It is ok to be an American, It is ok to be proud that you are an American. It is ok to make a good living, to have money in the bank. To want to keep that money and not give it to the UN or some other third world country. I paid $20,000 in tax last year, I will get just a little back. It ok not to want to pay that much to the government. I am not ashamed that American is the greatest country on the face of the earth. They are not lined up trying to get in to Russia, China, Japan, nope its the USA. I dont want the FEDS giving my tax dollars to the third world, I want to drive to work, and have a good job. I am not in denial, I am taking full advantage of what this great country has to offer.

Well, though I disagree with most legislation designed to 'prevent global warming', I would say the first steps would be trying to start campaigns for legal action in your area, and communicating with your state legislature, as well as your state's Congressmen.
Though, things you yourself can do to help cut down on man's environmental impact:
Purchase a fuel efficient vehicle, a hybrid, even (A used one, preferably) - or carpool or use mass transit. Or, even better, ride a bicycle or walk.
Recycle paper, plastic, cans, batteries, electronics, etc.
Encourage your friends, co-workers, and neighbors to do the same.

Yes even President said it was a problem, but did he give the EPA or a special committee money to find answers to that question? What you can do to help is e-mail your state representatives and tell them you feel something should be done to alleviate global warming and giving people viable options to that end.

The only answer is to elect officials who are not in the hip pocket of the corporate world. Right now we have a president who is completely stupid on this subject.
