Vicodin contains the narcotic hydrocodone. The effects of any amount, of any narcotic, when mixed with alcohol, is unpredictable. Many factors could enter into how the two Will interact. The amount of alcohol, for one, is a great unknown. If you took the Vicodin, and then consumed what is the usual amount of alcohol for you, there is the distinct possibility that you could become disoriented enough to keep drinking beyond your usual limit. Another concern here is that each Vicodin contains 500 mg. of Acetaminophen. Acetamenophin is detoxified by the liver, as is alcohol. Depending on how healthy your liver is, and other things, like how much acetaminophen you might have consumed in other over the counter products, the Vicodin plus the alcohol, could bring about liver failure. The only cure for that is a liver transplant. Liver transplant surgery is akin to being hit by a semi with trailer attached. There are so many things that could be at issue here, that I can only advise against taking the Vicodin along with alcohol. GT, Registered Nurse

They advise not to do them together for a few purposes. One being that it destroys your liver. The acetemetophine in Vicodin puts a strain on your liver and coupled with alcohol your body is having to work overtime to cleanse itself. The second reason is the impaired judgment the combination would produce. Vicodin is strong enough on its own to work as a painkiller, there is no need to combine it with alcohol except in the case of abusing the drug, and the medical industry does everything it can to prohibit that.
I have taken vicodin with alcohol before, and I'm still alive and thriving. But don't do it on a regular basis unless you feel like completely trashing your liver.

2 or 3 beers and 1 pill is'nt bad. just watch out for the cumulative effect from taking it every day. Previous poster is right tho about it being a very addictive practice. Anything that feels that good makes real life seem dull. Easy to get used to the feeling. And pain pills to a lot of people really just makes the pain dull but still there. Therefore you still feel it and want to keep taking pills. Lots of genuinely injured peole get hooked this way.

It may not effect you right at the moment that you Will notice, but both are hard on the liver and mixed can cause damage that you know nothing about until years down the line when you end up with hepatitis. One of the heps is caused from abuse to the liver, not sex or sharing needles. Do your research. If the bottle says no alcohol, then you need to heed the warning.

any pain medication mixed with alcohol can slow your heartrate down considerably and if you are passed out from the meds/drinks you won't even know what's happening,
I'm not saying it will, but it can, at any age. If you haven't eve before watch Dr.G. Medical examiner, she has a case like that...
