Should the trim be slightly lighter or darker, or very lighter?

a few years back, we painted our entire very large master bedroom (that faces south so it's a sunny room) a dark forest green. We liked it at first because it was originally a builder's decorater white so we enjoyed having color. BUt then, it just started to seem to depressing and the large room really closed in. And you could also see dust on the wall. Our trim was a med. oak wood trim. Although I have seen in with painted white, too. Aftert trying to live with it for a year, we painted it a neutral sage green, and find it is easier to live with. I think in hindsight, we should probably just painted the wall with headboard on it the dark green. Hope that helps!

I think it's better to do only one wall really dark, unless the room gets a lot of natural light anyway. Otherwise it feels like a dungeon. But my opinion doesn't matter. If you think dark blue looks cool, you should go for it. The trim should be white or a lighter color to brighten up the room and make the blue pop. I'm sure it will look awesome. Good luck!

Yes, our bedromm is dark blue...all four walls and the walk in robe. The ceiling is white tho and it's on the sunny side of the house, we love it and it's been there for 8 years now, and we're not changing it. Right next door is the bathroom and that's the very same colour including the ceiling as by then my husband couldn't be bothered so it all got the blue treatment, including the trims in both rooms, but in there of course the bath, basin, toilet are white, so is the shower, to offset all the blue, the benchtop in the bathroom has gold/yellow tiles. We love it.

I have tried it with a deep red. Had to paint it 4 times to get it all blended in. A real pain. Now, I don't like it at all. Makes the room look very small. Maybe it would be different with blue. Good luck to you. I left the wood grain trim the way it was.

I once painted my bedroom dark terra cotta, but it was for my husband's sake who slept during the day. I opted for pale tan trim and ceiling. It was kind of neat, but unless your room is very large, I wouldn't opt for dark paint on all walls. Perhaps, only a focus wall? If you want to do all four walls, definitely use white trim and brighten with vibrant accents throughout the room. You will have to use strong colors accents for contrast. Have fun!

The three main colors in the music video was green, red, and a creamy color. I would paint the wall green because it is fun but not to bold. Then I would paint flowers or something on the wall with creamy color antique wall decor. Or you could just ditch the cream and add silver and black flashy things to look sofisticated yet young like a club feel! Anyways these three colors are the main colors in the video, your inspiration. All these other answers may be pretty together, but they have nothing to do with your video, this does!

Yes, I painted one bed room in my new house black! it is Sherwin Williams Fox Black, I painted the ceiling and all the walls black, the trim is a light gold, then I used light colored furniture.
Everyone that sees it always say that they would never have been that brave, but they love it!!! I am an interior decorator,so I think you should go for it!
