almost everytime i go to play a basketball game (or any strenuous workout) and i dont stretch my shoulder(s) out for 5+ min, they ache and sore...the only way i have figured out to stop them from aching when running is to crack my neck (push to either side and pop it..) is this aching natural?? and is there any other way i can make it stop aching!!!

(no other part of my body does this...its from the side of my neck to the ends of my shoulder)

please help!

Well first off, quit cracking your neck, it is so bad for you and actually really dangerous. I think the problem is in your neck, the discs are deteriorating or you are arthritic in the neck. It is very important to stretch before and after playing a sport. Instead of pushing hard to "crack it", just push firmly like a isometric type push/pull. Both side to side and front to back. Put your hand on your forehead and apply pressure, holding your head in line. Do a few sets of these excercises. Apply a heating pad or use a heated rice sock after play to soothe the muscles and stop spasms. If this condition continues for 3-6 months, I would seek medical advice. Good luck.
