Your nephew weighs too much. Check out normal weights with a pediatrician; your sister or brother may need counsel.

Speaking from experience as an early childhood educator, weight varies from child to child. Height, muscle mass, fat mass, gender, athletic capabilities, genetics, etc. all vary for the child's actual weight.
101 lbs for a (1st/2nd grader) is on the obese side for a child that age. My suggestion for the health and well being of the child is to reiterate with the parents and the child the importance of healthy eating and exercise (at least 5 days a week for 45 minutes a day).
If you, which you seem to, and his parents truly are involved in his overall health and growing you should be fully aware of his weight control and support his weight loss.
If you don't see weight loss and it has been a month or so on this regimen...consult a pediatrician.

Depends on how tall he is. And bone structure-small, med. or large. He should, I would guess, around 80 lbs, best to ask his doctor. No child should be on a "diet", that is way too young. However, healthy eating habits, nutritious snacks, and activity (bike riding) playing chase or something like that, is good for him. The sooner he is taught the healthy way of eating, and being active (in fun ways) the better for a lifetime. Nothing wrong with once a week or so to have a brownie, cookie, etc. Also, please watch the soda pop amount he drinks. If he drinks it every day-those are empty calories. When I was growing up, we could have soda pop on weekends, like going out to dinner, and my older sister and I would have to share a bottle of pop when we were at home. Please have the child taken to his doctor to have a consult to see what he should weight, nutrition, and activities that he can do. Wishing you the best. Take care.

my brother in-law has been big his whole life. my husband said his brother definately weighed that much when he was 7 yr. old. he now weighs 430 lbs. he was the youngest of 3 boys and frequently got spoiled with candy and junk food. he is now 21 and still living at home and has never had a job.
has your nephew seen a physician to get tests run to see if there is not something else going on here. ie...diabetes.
talk to the parents about the long term effects before it is to late and harder to get the pounds off!!!
hope something is done i would hate for this kid to ruin his life.

im 13 5"3 and 100lb so how talll is he it all depends.but it is sad a 7 years old shouldnt weigh more then me. point to an image of a male model and say this person eats fish, chicken breasts and rarely has junk food, then point to a summo restler and say this person eats junk food at every meal and ask him which one he"d wanna look like and of course he"lll choose the modle. dont let him have junk food replace brownies with low fat chocolate protien bars and play tag with him or go bike riding with hime.

Take him out for bike rides, hikes, swimming, etc.
Give him healthy snacks.
You may not be able to change his parents' parenting skills, but you can help keep him active and healthy by playing a big part in his life.
