If you mean an egg from the grocery store, no. They aren't fertilized. Go to a pet store and you might be able to find one--though that's usually around Easter. Or find a local chicken farmer and see if he can sell you a chick.

The kind you get in the grocery store are infertile and won't hatch. The incubation period of a chicken egg is about 21 days and this needs an incubator or its mom. You have 18 days. No go. Buy a chick at a feed store which occurs around spring time, No go. I wish I could help you. Know that this is an important lesson for you to learn right now and not to repeat the behaviour again. have a nice Valentine's Day.

Generally, you won't be able to hatch a chicken from the eggs you buy at the grocery store as measures have been taken to ensure that they are not fertile. Your best bet is to visit a farm that raises chickens and get a chick from them. Even if you find a fertile egg, there is not enough time to ensure that it will hatch before Feb 14.

Check this site out. They sell as few as 10 chicks and ship them to you....and I checked on when they hatch (they overnight them the same day) and they are on Feb. 5 and Feb. 12. You might be in luck!
BTW....a chicken egg incubates in 21 days, not 34. Someone wasn't very accurate there. Obviously a city slicker!

No, the egg is probably infertile, and even if it was, refrigeration kills the embryo.
You can get a mature chicken if you go to http://www.mcmurrayhatchey.com they sell full size ones, but they are NOT cheap. If you want to buy a chick, you'll have to order a min of 25 from them.
Most farms won't have chicks to sell this early in the year.

In the first place, it takes 34 days to hatch an egg. (not enough time).
In the second place, store eggs are not fertilized. (no rooster)
In the third place, many areas made it illegal to give chicks for valentines day pets.
You can contact your local farm supply store. They will be able to help you find the right place to go. You may have to buy a minimum, though.

No, eggs in stores are infertile, they are for consumation, not for reproduction. You need to look elsewhere for a baby chick...

no, the eggs in stores are fertalized.
They cant hatch
you can go to a butcher who sells live animals (for the disgusting purpose of eating them) but you can just keep it and take care of it.
