I'm so tired of a re-inserted cork sometimes being near impossible to get out, the Vacuvin is not failsafe, and I'm not ready to buy the new vaccuum decanter with psi gauge.

Stelvins would make life so much simpler! If the Bordelais are still concerned about micro-oxygenation, I figure the majority of wine isn't intended for laying down anyway!!!!!!!

the simple little Douro I'm drinking right now would not be harmed by a screwcap

we do actually have to be careful about screw caps as well. I just saw an article on wine business monthly website a few days ago that said that a side effect of the screw cap is this fabulous rotten egg smell. something only found with screw caps.

i really could care less if my wine has a screw cap or a cork. So long as it tasted fine and at any price point. I personally do not even use the real cork once a bottle is open. i have these nifty stainless steel ones from zyliss. So I just pop that in and move on.

Well we, in terms of you and I, certainly could, but the wine industry probably cannot. There's still too much debate, much of it nonsense, and too much history stomping all over and around the issue. Not to mention too much public perception still exists that a Stelvin closure indicates cheap, low-class wine. More nonsense, but I believe we're stuck with it for now.

I like my 2 buck chuck with a cork, makes it seem a little more high class.
