2GB is short for 2 Gigabytes. It refers to the number of bytes i.e. small chunks of memory in a memory component.

2 GB = 2 * 1,073,741,824 bytes.

Some common equivalents are:
~(650) 3MB mp3s (audio files)
~(4) 500MB mpgs (video files)
~(100,000,000) 20 MB pdfs (text & image files)

The two answers above regard what 4GB (2GB/2GB) mean are essentially correct . If it is a reference to what is installed on a pc it is 2 sticks of RAM 2Gb each. As far as running a game requiring 3Gb of ram ...maybe...maybe not. How much FREE RAM of the 4Gb would be a determining factor in the effectiveness of the game running. Generally the Free Ram figure can be found in an activity panel on a computer.

It's the amount of storage available on a device, such as a hard drive or a memory stick etc.
The higher the number, the more room for storing files.
