Anne,
Mary the mother of Jesus was to be just that, the mother of this beaten, beleaguered, down trodden man named Jesus, the mother of the savior of the world.

As the prophet told her, "...a sword shall pierce your heart..." She was so emotionally connected to her son we can't imagine the heartbreak she felt. Mary also provided our Lord with the moral support and courage that was overwhelming.

She was there with him throughout, and she certainly suffered as a result.
What mother wouldn't?
Let's not forget that it was also Mary's flesh that was used to fashion Jesus' human body ... and without that, our redemption could not have been accomplished.

Do you remember when Isaac stole the birth right of Esau (I think that was their names)? Well the meal that Isaac prepared to please Abraham the Father was actually prepared by Isaac's mother Sarah because she knew exactly how Abraham liked his food. Well the same can be said of Mary. As Jesus was growing, she prepared him for his sacrifice so he would be pleasing sort of speak. He was God so he of course would always be pleasing to his Father but, Mary primarily, was the one who taught him as he was growing up. She taught him about sacrificing himself by her actions of sacrificing herself to do God's will.

I think she was dating Mel Gibson during the filming. It didn't work out though, she is Jewish, and you know how Mel is.
