When you have to spit out the feathers. Eggs under refrigeration, will remain wholesome for several months. If you are unsure place the egg in water. If it floats it is bad, as gases form from the egg as it decomposes.

Sorry to correct the other person who answered , but eggs have a very long shelf life. There is a expiration date on the carton. However eggs are usually good at least two weeks after the expire date. Also...when eggs go bad...you will know it immediately when you crack it open.

Store bought eggs--in the fridge, they can be kept for only a few weeks. Farm fresh eggs with the poop and straw still attached can be kept for a few months, even without refrigeration. They are layed with a protective coating that seals the egg and keeps out salmonella, e. coli, etc. Once they are washed, they detiorate fast, so you can't make sunny side up with store bought eggs because they are washed "to protect consumer safety"...what an oxymoronic notion....to test the quality of your eggs, put them in water. If they sink, they are fine. If they float, I would call hazmat!

The shelf life of eggs extends beyond the recommended sell-by date on retail packages if they are stored properly, according to USDA Agricultural Research Service scientists in Athens, Ga.
ARS food technologists Mike Musgrove and Deana Jones with the agency's Poultry Processing and Meat Quality Research Unit tested the quality and functionality of table eggs during a 10-week storage time, long beyond the current 30-day industry standard for storing eggs on the store shelf. Properly refrigerated and handled, eggs are considered safe for consumption for four to five weeks beyond the sell-by date.

yes they do store bought eggs have a shelf life of 2 weeks usually. Tha's because of the shipping issue. Home grown eggs as long as you collect them every day are good for 3 to 4 weeks refidgerated and 2 weeks on the counter.

Yes they do, it's on the carton. If they are kept at the proper tempture they will keep. Although eggs age more in 2 hours at room tempture then they do in a day at proper temp.
