All the Mormons that I know are very kind and love people. Family is very important to them. They have one night a week that is 'family night' where they stay home and do things as a family. They believe in helping others (all members of the church are extended family) and being prepared. They keep a years supply of food on hand, so if the world comes to an end while you are there, you will be in the best possible place.
Be polite. Dress like a lady. Act like a lady. Consider them another branch of the Christian church. Don't say "I am a Christian" which implies that you think they are not. Don't volunteer any information about religion or politics. If they ask, say "I am a ......." or "I attend the ..... church" whatever domination you are and don't dwell on it. Talk about safe topics. Be yourself and relax.
(I had to laugh at some of the answers that you got here.)

They may be laid back but I heard they think God lives on another planet, and that when they die they get to be king of their own planet! I don't know if that is true or not, just something I heard about Mormons, that and in high school one time I went with some friends of mine to a Mormon dance, I am a Christian and they made me take of my necklace which pendant was a cross! I guess they don’t like the crucifix. They say they are a Christian religion, but they preach more from the book of Mormon than the Bible. Christians and Mormons are actually very different. Ask for yourself tomorrow!

Mormons believe in Jesus and are thus Christians. This religion is just one of the thousands of 'flavours' of Christianity.
I'm sure that you are all going to be meeting to get to know each other, so treat them with the respect that you deserve and I'm sure that you'll all get along.
Rely on your boyfriend's advice about them - they're 'laid back'. He is the best expert on them.
Plan ahead with him to help you out if you find any situation or issue tough - perhaps agreeing on a 'secret' signal that you can give to him, to get his specific support that you think that you might need.
Usually shorter meetings between new people are likely to be less prone to strains etc. Perhaps aim to have an end time for the meeting, planned before you all meet up.
Remember, they believe in Jesus and his compassion and are likely to have values that you could admire, as a fellow Christian.
Good luck and go easy on yourself. Don't pretend to be someone that you're not. Rob

Mormons are Christians, too, the proper name of their chuch is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They just have an extra book, the Book of Mormon. They're no worse than any other group of religious people, some are wacko, some only go to church on Christmas and the rest fall somewhere between to two extremes. My experience has been that they're the friendliest group of church going people I've ever met.
As for your boyfriends family, just be yourself. If your boyfriend says they're laid back and you trust him, you've got nothing to worry about. If they're not, just stick up for yourself, stand your ground and be polite.

I wouldn't worry. I dated a Mormon for many years and I am a Buddhist. The jump from Christian to Mormon and Mormon to Buddhist is a lot smaller :-) We made it work. The problem came from a dysfunctional family center... not the Mormon faith. I met many of his friends who were wonderful. And they welcomed me often to temple with out any push to convert.
If he likes you enough to take you home just be your normal self. the one he fell for.
I think your jitters are more about "meeting the family" than meeting the "Mormons".
Good luck dear.

You guys are all wrong!!!!! Except yes, we are kind and not crazy. I am a Mormon, we ARE Christian, why else do you think the name of our church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints? And all of that Joseph Smith and Godl Plates stuff is 100% true!! And we don't try and convert everyone!!!!! That is a lie!!! Really, you won't have any problems, just don't cuss or say "oh my god". Try and say oh my goodness or gosh. And don't wear black or really dull looking clothing. And be modest with what you wear. Also if you have multiple piercings only have one piercing in each earlobe. But really, we are not bad or anything, they won't have you or do anything bad. Just relax and be polite. And we do greatly encourage the topic of loving family, so you'll be fine.

Myself, not having any knowledge of the Mormon religion, would expect that your boyfriends parents will be looking at you with a magnifying glass. To ease the tension you should ask them questions about the Mormon lifestyle. Every ones favorite topic of discussion is them self.

Carry a toothpick. The last thing your gonna need is brockley teeth and the pick is also good to poke yourself with when you really want to laugh about the talking hat. LOL thats ancient history, now they talk about the yearly confrence which is healthy religion, I wish I could go to a church where people actually helped shape everyones beliefs. Well, maybe not, can you imagine having your dad as your Minister/priest/Bishop? How would you get worldly advice from your dad?

A lot of Mormon people are very nice, but if they are strict, they may want you to be Mormon before you ever marry him. Mormons are great, but their beliefs seem pretty wacky.
