I am not talking small private planes.I am talking a commuter airline operation. At a airshow I walked through
a DC-3 that was Eastern Express(Eastern airlines commuter operation)in 1988 and there was not a lavatory.
I know southern airways had some small aircraft without
a lavatory.
How many short hop flights had planes with no lavatory?

Yep. I flew on a Commutair (Continental Connection) B1900D from Pittsburgh to Cleveland. No cockpit door, no lavatory, nothing. There was a closet, though, even though it was more of a rack than an actual closet. I love that plane!

EDIT: There is an option, however, for the B1900D to have a lavatory. The commuter airlines flying B1900D's for Air Canada have a lavatory.

Like the third responder said ... the Beech 1900 has no lavatory. The Jetstream J-31 has no lavatory, and the Swearingen Metroliner has no lavatory - so keep that in mind if you are booked on one of the smaller regional type aircraft.

United Express used to fly the J-31 from San Francisco to Long Beach (about 2 hours). But not anymore. That was a long time to hold - if nature called.

I was on a B1900C from Sioux Falls, SD to Denver, CO once and the plane did not have a lavatory. I made sure not to drink anything before the flight and had a trip to the restroom before getting on the plane.

I've never been on a plane, city hopper or long distance that has not had a lavatory. I feel bad for the people who fly those kinda jets. ouch!
