I just got a gift from my friend. It is a shirt that is not at all my style. I was shopping with him and I was kidding about the shirt. And a month or so later, he buys it for me. I am pretty good friends with him, but I didnt expect a gift. He knew better than to get me the shirt. But he we very sincere with it and expected me to actually enjoy it. Now I dont know what to do. I am afraid of hurt his feelings by just getting rid of it. But I will never, ever wear the shirt. I'm afraid he is gonna ask why he never sees it. I said thank you and was appreciative. But what now?

Don't lie to him. Lies only get you in more trouble later. Just come clean, he will appreciate your honesty and it will reassure him that you are an honest person and that makes you a trustworthy friend. We all need trustworthy friends.

Send him a thank-you note along with all the other gifts you got, and then take it back to the store and get something you really want. I doubt he will ever ask, but if he does, tell him it was just the wrong size, that you tried to exchange it but they didn't have the proper size, so you got this instead. Isn't it great?

Also, have you considered that he might have a bit of a crush of you, to be so very attentive and remember (what he thinks is) your taste? Be prepared for him to ask you out.

Best thing to do I think is not wear it, and if he ever mentions you never wear it just say you liked it on the rack when you mentioned it you don't like the way it looks on. Just say it's a girl thing, and maybe wear it around the house if he's over or something until it fades into the past. They give it to goodwill

If your friend ever comes over to your house, wear it then. No one else will see it but the two of you.

Whatever you do, don't hurt your friend's feelings. Just wash it when you wash your other clothes so it looks like you have worn it. Then if he ever asks you if you ever wear it, you can honestly say yes, you have washed it a lot! LOL

Bury it and then tell him a representative from the Smithsonian Institution saw you wearing it and insisted you donate it to them for their special Americana exhibition. So right now it's on it's way to Washington.

You could say that you went back to the store to see if you found something that fit you better. If it doesn't 'fit' your style and you get something in exchange that you really like, I think he'd be happy that you found the other item.

Well you can be honest with your friend and tell him this is not you cup of tea. Then you can exchange it and get something you like. Or you can wear for your friend once or twice and then put it away.

Be grateful a friend thought of you to get you a gift at all. If YOU were a true friend, you'd wear it occassionally.

You can always tell him that you like the shirt, but it just doesn't fit right on you.

Pour some bleach on it and stick it in the back of your closet. If he asks about it, tell him about the "accident", show him the shirt.
