All cats are different. Some drink with their paws, others like running water. My one cat sticks her face too far in the bowl then sneezes about ten times and my boy cat.... just drinks it. This is why cats are the best, they're unique!

My female cat will not drink out of a water bowl. She needs a glass of water sitting on the counter and she dips her paw in it and licks it off. She has done this as long as I have had her.

I have had cats all my life ... most of the have some silly way about drinking water ...
I have had one that does the paw thing ... and several that just prefer the fresh running water.
The last one I had would jump into the tub and wait for you to run the water for her.
There is something about running water that intrigues them ...
There is a cat watering bowl that actually makes the water run like a fountain for the cats ... I have heard that it is good and not too expensive ...
running water is fresher longer ... better for the cat ...

Well, they aren't crazy but they are interesting. Many cats feed themselves with their paws. As for the brother crying his head off, well........he knows how to get what he wants. My cat Toby, despite having a fresh bowl of water out every day, runs like mad when he sees me heading for the bathroom so I will turn on the tap and let him drink out of the sink. Very smart kitties. Have fun with them.

Some cats like to drink running water. Mine do. We think it's an instinct, since thats how they did it before they were domesticated. It just depends on the cats. It's a little annoying in the morning when you're trying to get ready and they keep jumping on the sink to drink. But other than that I think it's cute :)

My 9 yr old neutered male never had any issues with drinking water except he prefers water fresh from the tap. The 1 yr old neutered male is the skittish one who must be encouraged to drink water more often. So, I bought this cat water fountain. As predicted, the older cat just took it in hs stride and drank from it no worries. The little one... well, first he watched watched watched the water trickling down this slide. Then he watched watched watched those tiny bubbles forming at the base of the slide. Then he paws at the bubbles. Tastes his paw... and looks at me: "what's this contraption?" So I stoop down and pretend to be drinking from the water fountain - making loud slurping noises. Kitten stoops and puts his face and nose next to my lips... then decides to do what he thinks I am doing: PRETENDING to drink the water! Waaaahhhh!!! (cry cry cry)

One of my cats (out of four) will cry until she gets what she wants, whether it be water or food or attention. Another one refuses to drink out of the cat bowl and insists getting a fresh bowl everytime she is thirsty. Although when I am out all day I am sure she drinks from the cat bowl.

I have several cats. One of them prefers water in the bathtub (maybe the porcelain keeps it cooler). After my shower, I close the tub drain and run a little bit of water that stays in the bathtub all day long.
A couple of them drape their paws in the water bowl and drink from it.
Then the others drink from the filter area of my fish tank.
Cats .......

cats are crazy and have their own little neurotic tendencies. i have two also brother and sister, the girl wont eat in the morning unless i pet her first and the boy has no problems. try putting another bowl/glass of water somewhere unusual and see if they both drink from it, mine do and i even stopped putting water down with their food.

All cats have their unique personalities. I had a cat once that sucked the water from the bowel. Just accept it as feline quirkiness. :) You might want to do some discipline or negative reinforcement to keep your male cat from demanding water from the sink though. unless you don't mind turning the faucet on for him at his bidding.
