I'm wondering if a monk would kill the bug or set it free. It's almost impossible to set free ants because there is a swarm and by hand or anyway, it would damage the ant. what would a Buddhist monk had bugs in the temple? Please no guesses unless you have experience like living in a temple. Anyone with experience from a monk or can have contact to a monk please answer me or ask them. I've been wondering about this since I was a kid.

I'm buddhist, though my branch allows killing, I mostly choose not to and the reason I ask is because my family kills the bugs and last night there were 2 black widows in my room that I share with my brother and he wanted it to die and its cold at night.

Don't worry too much about it.I was a novice monk, and we had to sweep the floor everyday(ants, dust, everything) and then dumped everything into the rubbish bin.
As a Buddhist,I try my best to perform more wholesome deeds(good karma) and minimize unwholesome deeds(bad karma) in my daily activities.
Hope this help.

Okay, I'm not a Buddhist monk, but from my understanding, a Buddhist monk would simply move the insect out of living quarters/into nature (ie. get a paper, let it climb on, and take it outside). I would assume a swarm of fire ants would not make an ant hill inside. This is the technique I use to get rid of any sort of bugs in my space. I believe a true Buddhist would not kill an insect "just because." Also, Buddhists wouldn't necessarily see the insect as a burden as much as part of life.

Now, Jains on the other hand... Jainism takes a much more extreme view on this than Buddhism. Jains have brooms, and gently sweep the area in front of them so they won't accidently kill any beings. Isn't that cute?

I'm not a buddhist monk, a buddhist, or a monk but I think I've only killed a mosquito once. I mean yeah, you probably kill things accidently just walking around but I bring spiders and ants etc outside with a paper or something. I'd like to know the answer to your question too! Hopefully someone knows. Sorry, I couldn't help.

!No love he would never do that you must understand on how one thinks and lives the spider or ant is of no intrusion he is not in violation if anything the monks remove themselves if they are the ones in the way and out of fear that the spider or ant may be abused or killed they pr0udly remove the insect to safer place or high/lower level! killing is a NO for the monk ,the Buddha =Buddhism

Buddhist monks don't usually worry about killing bugs, but Jain monks do. They constantly sweep in front of them to avoid stepping on bugs, and wear gauze over their mouths so they don't breathe one in by accident.

I've never lived in a temple but im often learning. From what I have seen monks usually broom away pests. They sweep away anything that may be in there path and get crushed.

If by accident they kill an insect they pray for it's soul.
