If you live out in the "boondocks" then satelite might be your only choice. In Large cities cable services can also offer a package deal with telephone and dsl and tivo. The cheapest and most fragile deal is use of pirated cable or satelite. For honest citizens cable is more reliable but satelite offers more HD television services now....

Ask your neighbors about the service, sometimes that is the best clue to which type of receiver you would best choose.

Satellite tv is affected by weather - hard rain, blowing snow, trees down, etc. Those things wouldn't affect cable. I don't know about the price - depends on your area.

Both compare fairly close...satellite gives you more of a selection, but cable is more dependable...satellite may be interrupted by heavy rain and snow.
