Dogs can be spayed and neutered as early as 3-4 months of age. We don't recommend any earlier due to lack of immune devolopement, and anesthetic risk. Make sure to take them to a vet you trust and do the pre-surgical bloodwork to make sure nothing is wrong before going under anesthesia.

Animals can be fixed as soon as they reach 2 pounds, but likely your vet will wait until 3 months to prevent complications from anesthetic. Don't forget the neuter the male so he doesn't run away to impregnate neighborhood females and so he doesn't get testicular cancer. I'd be the first to laugh at the owner when a dog dies of a complication due to not being spayed or neutered.

I do believe that dogs can be fixed as early as 6 or 8 weeks because I have watched quite a bit of Animal Cops on Animal Planet and the vets don't thing twice about spaying and neutering puppies at about 6 weeks of age so it can't be too very harmful to them.

If you get her fixed around 3 or 5 months she should be good. If you get her fixed before her first heat then she is less likely for problems in the future such as mammary cancer and things in that nature. I got my dog from the pound and they fixed her at 2 months. I think she was too young. She didnt act right for two weeks.

Get the female spayed and the male neutered, both between 4-6 months of age.

Only your Vet can actually tell you for certain, but using a "guess-timation" (from doing Animal Rescue) I would suggest at six (6) months old. This is when we've always had our female dogs spayed.
CONGRATULATIONS on becoming Pet Parents to a Brother & Sister.
Have a lovely rest of the evening.

Hi. Glad you liked the name I suggested! I think it is pretty. I would have the female spayed around 5-6 months. Congrats on the new babies!

I like Bella for a dog,...it is adorable. It's good that you plan to get the boy dog fixed right away...I think your vet would tell you to do the girl ASAP...if you're never going to breed her, there's no reason to chance it.
