Jerry Falwell says throw it into the air, and what the Lord catches, belongs to the Lord. The rest belongs to Rev. Falwell.

Any time you see someone drop something, money or anything else, it's not up for grabs. You should return it or tell the person they dropped it. Doesn't matter if it dropped out of the collection plate or out of someone's pocket, doesn't matter if it happens in church or on the street.

If you find a dollar laying in the pews long after everyone's gone and you don't know if it came from the collection plate or from someone's pocket, it's a bit more debatable... Personally I'd still turn in any cash I found indoors to the owner(s) of the building -church, restaurant, hotel, store- but if the owner/intended recipient isn't clear at least it is a bit closer to finding small change on the street. If you find loose change in a truly public place then yes it is up for grabs. :)

No. You simply get the attention of the Deacon who was passing the plate and help place the money back.

You mean, this must be a message from God that he wants me to have this money??? Nice try!!! (Of course not, you need to put it back in the plate.)

It was given to the church, so it belongs there. If you drop a 20 and someone picks it up right at your foot is it theirs? Do what you want, but remember God is always watching us all !!
