See line 5 of Schedule A. All the IRS publications are very unclear. They say it expired but that there was legislation to keep it going. I cannot confirm it has been or hasn't. Please help!

Yes it did, but too late to have a dedicated line on the form and booklets, though tax software does have it included.

To claim it on a paper return see the details in the article in the reference line

Yes it is still an Itemized deduction, you would claim it on Line 5 of the Schedule A and write in on the dotted line Sales tax to identitfy whether you are taking the Income or Sales Tax.

Yes it made it back. They are mailing additional information to taxpayers who recieved 1040 booklets. You can deduct sales tax or state income tax.

Yes, but too late for the hard printed forms.
The online services do have the updated software tho, so maybe you can use one of the free efiles ?
