I showed interest in a guy, he said we should just be friends because he's not ready for a relationship - and then he started going out with someone new within a week (!)

I found someone new, and we were on the phone (like friends do!) talking about how I could see myself with this guy for the long haul if things work out. He said "So you think he is someone that you could be in for the long haul with?"

Then he was silent for a second and said very un-enthusiasticly "well....that's good, I guess."

Why would he be jealous when he has someone new, who moved in with him after a week? Is it because I took away his option of me? Or did he just not know what to say?

because it hurts his big, gigantic EGO. I`m sorry but if someone told me to just be friends (we all know what that means anyway) because he is not ready for a relationship and then hooks up with someone else within a week, I don`t think I would even be friends with someone with his character. You deserve better!

You're asking us to get into the head of someone we have never met. Maybe he's one of those people who never can figure out what they want. If he is, then you are better off just keeping things the way they are right now between you, & him.
He started going out with someone else without even giving you a chance, & then you moved on.

GOOD FOR YOU!

I think there's a lot of people that I have seen post questions on here that could well learn from your example. :)

First of all, if you like this new guy, why stress out over this phone call you had as "friends?" Curiousity is what you're experiencing now. I think that you feel for him deeply hoping that he will come to you. He already had a chance with you and passed it up for some other girl. You have a new man now whom you see yourself with for the long haul if things work out. That's a beautiful thing that you should hold on to. But not too tightly. He may be jealous because he knows that he passed up a wonderful opprotunity with an awesome woman. It wasn't your fault for his decision because he told you he wasn't ready for a relationship but then started going out with someone new. It's his loss and I wouldn't dwell over the past. You have the future in the eyes of someone else! Good luck!

I think he might have feelings for you and was afraid, so he went with someone else. Maybe you should have a heart to heart with him. If he is still not interested in you, move on.

Because he's an idiot, first off, and secondly, because he probably always saw you as a back up and since you're with this new guy, he no longer has that as an option, and it's left him vulnerable. Don’t think about trying to get together with this dude. If he wanted you, he wouldn’t have dissed you in such a manner. Stick it out with this new guy. Trying to interpret mixed signals from nitwits, never works.
