Realizing that there are parts of life that you cherish and enjoy that you did not cause or create....so there must have been someone or something that caused or created those.
When you have that realization, you are willing to try things to determine your relationship with whatever caused or created the things in your life that you......and after a while come to love, cherish, and appreciate whatever or whomever that is.
When you do it purposefully, focusing on loving as you inhale and focusing on thanking as you exhale, your brain produces/ receives a wave of bliss.
Getting that wave of bliss can get you thru a whole bunch of tough situations, situations requiring more patience, or tolerance, or persistence.....
Getting that wave of bliss when you're depressed or despairing can be a mind-blowing and even life-changing experience.
Then you begin discovering that happiness has more to do with having a consistently positive state of mind and a consistently positive state of heart than acquiring things, or earning money, or having people love you.....

who is judging?
we have rain some say good some say bad
what is your or mine idea of a good time may well be widely divergent
i know that i call good and seek it out
i know that i call bad and avoid it as i can choose to do
many of those 'happy' people couldnt tell you why they are happy [or sad]
how are you to know/apriciate the good unless you clearly know its not bad
a perpetually happy peron is a lie
or so deluded so as to not know the difference
into every life a little rain must fall ,but its up to you if you choose to see it as good or bad.

Believe in YOURSELF.
Be proud of ALL you can do.
Love and be loved.
Never harm in a way you'd want to be harmed. (That could be a conscience thing.)
"If you can, you must!"
Go for your dreams because you be anything you want to be.
Work hard, but don't overwork. Always have time set aside for downtime or relaxation time.
Do things that you love.
Most of all, just simply enjoy life while you have it. It doesn't matter how. Who or what is holding you back from just being naturally and utterly happy? :*)

Simple answer...being a good person. If you do the things that are moral and virtuous, you should be a very happy person. Guilt is the major cause for unhappiness. Most dogma states that if we sin, God will be angry and we must ask for his forgiveness. Some feel that if the sin is too great, God may not forgive and unhappiness and despair fill the heart.

having joy: a state of gladness not brought about by the current surroundings or situation. Joy comes with the realization that God will keep his promises, and is looking out for you, among many other comforting reasons.
