Hi, my bf has really bad eczema and I have been doing a lot of research to understand his condition and to see what I can do to help him so that he doesnt have to deal with the itchyness or the burning. He said that he has tried some of the creams that doctors prescribe but none of them really help. He has it bad on his hands and the bottom of his feet so I was wondering if there are any natrual things that people use to help it. One person told me that they use emu oil to control it....does this really work? Anyone with first hand experience? Also, what other products would you reccommend to use?

Well, if you've been doing a lot of research, you've discovered what I have--the word eczema doesn't seem to describe just one thing--its a word they seem to apply to almost any re-occoring itchy skin problem that they don't know an exact cause for. It takes some some trial and error to figure out what will work for you.

With that in mind, here is what finally worked for my husband. He had excema mainly on the undersides of his arms and elbows and knees (and these areas were constanty red and scabbed because they itched so much he couldhn't keep himself from itching).

SALSA: Crazy as it seems eating something spicey every day has helped dramatically. His exzema has practically gone away (only reoccuring occassionally). It was something we heard about on national public radio. (I've also heard a radish a day will work similarly--same idea--its the something in the spice).

AVOIDING RED/ORANGE FOOD COLORING: We think we have tied the occassional flare up he has recently to things with red food coloring...so we try to avoid it. Kool aid, frosting, candy coloring etc.

Monitoring his diet and seeing if there is any corilation between any type of food and a flare up might help.

We never tried the emu oil--but I've heard that can help. All the oil/lotion based stuff didn't do much for my husband-but every case is different.

I personally don't have eczema but one of my best friends did really bad I suggested Transfer factors and she noticed significant improvement in the 1st few days and within 3 weeks it had basically completely gone! it hasn't been back and it has been prob about 5 months!

she takes the TF plus advanced and used to put the renawall gel on the sores and keeps some handy if it even tries to show up like after swimming (she never used to be able to go in the pool)
this stuff is definitely worth a try-she tried emu oil as well, it helped sooth but didn't get rid of it.
hope this helps :).

Never heard of it or tried it. I used olive oil and it worked well. I used it to take off make-up and for a night moisturizer. I use it on mom's dry flaky face and it comes right back to life.
