This past december my gramma died, I came home to find out that my roommate used $400.00 in heating oil in 3 weeks, I cant make ends meet, when I lay in bed, all I can think about is of ways to die. I've bin wanting to open a store front since 1997, finally get my chance only to find out that that idea is yet another failure. I'm scared to death of telling my GP because they're gonna stick me in a little 7x5 room until they can ship me to a facilitiy that is better equiped to handle me. I cant hold a job for very long. Everything I own I eventually sell to buy cigarettes, I've had 2 vehicles this year and in a 5 month period, 4 jobs.
I had surgery on my right knee back in Feb. 2006, now my left knee is doing what my right knee did 2 years ago. I'm permanently gimped.
And today I OD'd on tylenol not intentionally, just can't handle this day after day after day extreme pain anymore, its like a tooth ache that keeps getting worse. It clicks when I bend it. I'm tired of waking up hurting

Sweetie, it is not your fault. You have depression, which causes a vicious cycle of failure. What you need is help. Please do not give up on yourself and do not give up on life. Tell your doctor, or call a psychiatrist. They will not lock you up!! They will talk to you and maybe prescribe meds if necessary which will be an option for you to take (no one can force you to take meds, but they really do help)
Chronic pain is difficult to live with. I have chronic pain, too. All I can say is that there is still so much joy in store for you if you would give life a chance and be patient. Try Aleve pain killer, it works much better and lasts longer than Tylenol. It's also an anti-inflammatory, which will help. You can't take it every day but you can alternate between it and Tylenol and Ibuprofen.
Good luck, and God bless you!!!

Your GP won't put you in a psychiatric hospital unless you actually have a plan and access to whatever the plan is to kill yourself (e.g. with pills and you have access to those pills.).

It sounds like your life sucks...right now. Everyone has bad days, months, years, etc. My father used to say, "...and this too shall pass" and you know what, he was right. No matter how bad things are, the sun will rise tomorrow. You sound as though you have food and a roof over your head. You are not a terminal cancer patient (as an example), you have positives in your life. It just sounds like you have a "black cloud" over your head. Get out from under it! Write down what is going on in a list format. Take ONE problem on at a time. If your knee is giving you problems, do something about it. If you need a job, get one. If you want to quit smoking, ask your GP to write you a prescription for Chantix (a new Rx that works great!).

All I'm saying is...and this too shall pass....

This is your choice, but I promise you this if you hang in there a little while longer and stay away from that 7X5 room and that GP things will get better, never ever give up! Life changes from day to day and there is some miracle out there waiting just for you. It will come along soon and you will know it when you find it. Just hang on and find a private place and scream and holler as much as you want to. Find some pillows and beat them up and take a walk and then write some thing soon you will feel better. You will feel worse if you get in that room.

Well taking your life is not really an opinion nor is your GP sending you off to an instution. What you need to do, is go and see someone that can help you work out your issues, and get back into life, cause it is surly possiable, and please do not believe that it is not, cause it is. Everything does't always come easy, and sometimes you fail, but that is ok, you just have to keep on trying, and you will fine that one of these days, things will work out for you. If you need to see a therapist, then please do, don't give anyone the chance to lock you away, cause that just is not right. So take care, and god bless you.

Please try on to OD again, on anything, please be careful with taking medications.

Your sure as hell not alone, and you need professional help. Cigarettes release nicotine into your body which puts out epinephrine and that triggers some dopamine release as well which is the main ingredient lacking in the body and brain of those who suffer from chronic endogenous depression. They do not stick people in small rooms anymore for depression but they do put people who commit suicide into small boxes and bury them. You need professional help. At least call a Help line... start with 1-800-273-8255. Good luck...

All of the financial stuff DOES suck. As does grief and physical pain. I am sorry you are experiencing it so young. P L E A S E believe me that these things are ALL temporary ... YOU will MAKE it through because YOU are a giver to others. As a giver, you HURT for others as well as yourself. Would YOU kill one of the others in your life for hurting?

NO, absolutely NOT. SO do NOT even entertain the thought of suicide. If you harbor the thought , external happenings and things you hear from others start to sound like YOU are supposed to end your life. I call these things "RANDOM THOUGHTS from HELL" Because they snowball and build and add to YOUR distress.
You need to be told that ALL of the things you are going through right now, are horrible .. B U T you are going through them for a reason, the reason being is that life is not easy, but our hard times make us stronger , stronger to deal with future griefs, and OTHERS future griefs. Someday you will be answering this type of question for another, and YOU will have saved a life.

I am so sorry you are in pain. My husband is also in your shoes. He has to take oxycontin for his pain, but it doesn't help a lot. He is seeing a psychiatrist and counselor to try and deal with it. It's not easy and yes, life is bad for someone who suffers all the time. I pray for your healing.

You need to contact a therapist to help you get through all these things. You might even be put on an Antidepressant for a while, or longer. And you might want to ask him/her to refer you to a Case Manager. He/she will help with everyday life. Good luck!

Welcome to what the rest of the adult world deals with.

You should read a book called "A boy called 'It'". you think your life is bad...holy smokes, read that and you will see nothing but opportunity and freedom and beauty around you compared to what this boy when through as a child! This is based on a true story.
