Short answer is yes... if you quit. Studies have shown your lungs start recovering withing days of quitting. The risks for lung cancer, heart attack and other smoking related diseases are calculated on what they call pack years... ie how many packs you've smoked over how many years. Therefore the longer you smoke the higher the risk and the more you smoke the higher the risk. Plus the older you get the longer it takes for your body to recover. Good luck with quitting!

If you wanted to quit smoking to avoid getting diseases, it might be too late! Once you smoke you are all ready at a risk. Your lungs become bad just after one simple cigarette. Even if you just had one little cigarette, your whole life is affected. So if you stop, it will help a whole lot. However, you still have a higher chance of getting a disease. Not as high as a big heavy smoker would, but more than a person that has never smoked would. Hope this works! : )

Wanting to quit smoking does not lower your chances of getting smoking related disorders, but cutting back on smoking while working towards a goal of quitting can lower your risk. The only real way to reduce your risk is to quit altogether.

i do no longer understand the entire social smoker subject. while you're only smoking for the reason which you're with different people who do, and your physique isn't yearning the nicotine, PLEASE provide up - have you ever seen the classified ads on television showing you what is in cigarettes? in case you do make certain to renounce, sturdy success with it you will experience lots greater advantageous in your self. i might say the opportunities of having smoking correct illnesses are rather intense, as all that black stuff is going into your lungs and your bloodstream whether that's only on the weekend or each and all the time.
