Some religions are nicer than others. For example: Satanism (believe it or not) is less violent and has a more peaceful history than Christianity.
No religion can say for sure that they are the truth. Frankly the evidence points otherwise.

I'd say truth is a rather important issue.... and that's why I am unable to choose anything other than Atheism. It is the only reasonable and logical belief.

POST SCRIPT
to William F: What Jesus might have said, (if he was accurately quoted in the first place,) doesn't count for a hill of beans. Jesus was probably a deluded fanatic. He thought he was the son of god... and we all know that the idea of God is just a fantasy character dreamed up by man to explain the things he didn't understand and that later it came to be used as a form of boarder-less government and a cheap political tool, holding sway over the masses.
To ted.nardo: Are you really that brainwashed? Wow...!

I don't think it's about niceness or truth. It's about each individual's effort to find his own connection to God. We've been provided with many different religions because there are so many different people and cultures; no one single path is going to work for everyone. People tend to identify more with images of heaven and God that resemble them and their own cultures. So they base their ideas of what God is on ideas that they know, and to which they can relate and identify. And that's OK. I think that's what we're supposed to do. Find the way that works for us to connect with God.
I think finding your way to God is about finding a way to care for and have compassion for your fellow human beings; all of them, not just the ones that are like you. Unfortunatley that bit of truth gets lost in the dogma and practice of most religions. Organized religion seems to be more about world domination, power and profits. Improving conditions for all people seems to only play a part when a benevolent image needs to be projected. The reason for projecting that image usually revolves around having more people embrace the religion so that it can make further inroads into greater world domination and having more power and profits.
All of these religions fighting and killing over who's right, who's wrong, who's chosen, who's best, etc...are all missing the point. It doesn't matter if you're christian, jewish, muslim, hindu, baptist, methodist, orthodox, progressive , or whatever. The point is to figure out what it is God wants you be, and then find your own path to get there.
Hell (if it exists) may be a punishment. But calamities and catastrophies, misery, suffering, pain, poverty, hatred, intolerance, evil in general, and all things that are considered negative are here for us as lessons and tests. These are all things that we need to at least try to overcome and change. I think God gave us the means and ability to do this. It's just up to us to step up and do it, and prove (to ourselves) that we can, and to show that we will.

faith can basically instruct you their way of enlightenment/salvation/non secular attainment/mindfulness. faith is a perception equipment lots an identical way a political equipment works or would not artwork for the guy. maximum religions will inform you their way is the only way, so how can all of them be top? the element that incredibly unusual is that as quickly as you gain some kind of wakefulness, you notice that they are all top and that they are all at a loss for words on an identical time yet you like all of them the two. Oh, and that i could upload, this wakefulness is fleeting. purely as quickly as you think of you acquire it, it is going away. The religions will inform you they have a equipment the place you could save it all of the time yet that is no longer attainable in this airplane of existence yet there is extensive financial reasons to maintain a perception like that going with the aid of fact incredibly we are all on an identical direction no depend if all of us comprehend it or no longer or have faith it at the instant are not. Even atheists are on a non secular quest to instruct the non-exist stance of a ultimate Being. the superb element you're able to do is to discover somebody which you connect with, ask them what they suspect and take it from there. that is totally almost impossible to do it on my own from the commencing up yet while too many people become in contact on your quest then it is going to become hysteria. detect a self-discipline, adhere to it and while the reality shows up, and it will, you will comprehend it.

We're all here for a very short period of time, a breath. After that? That should be the question on everyone's mind. Where am I going to spend eternity? I would go for the truth. Only accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior will get you into Heaven. All other religions are going to put you on the path to Hell. The choice is yours.

Buddhism is the only religion I have seen that makes any sense at all. It teaches how to be enlightened and doesn't focus on judging others or what will send you to burn in hell for all eternity and such. No infidels, no history of killing all the firstborns and SH!T that I find INTOLERABLE. The rest are outdated, silly, and cause all the problems of the world. FYI I am an Atheist.

no, it is not about religion at all.
it is about God.
religion "per se" is of very little importance.
what is important is YOUR personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
don't get hung up on "religion".
John 3: The Words of Jesus Christ (God in the flesh)
3. "Verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God."
4. Nicodemus saith unto Him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?"
5. Jesus answered, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God."
6. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again."
16. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
18. He that believeth on Him is not condemned; but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."
