I have looked on newegg and places and I keep seeing batteries that are cheaper than Canon made batteries. I am looking at one for my 300D, and I want to know if the battery that is not Canon made will work with the original Canon BP-112/BP-111 charger.

Yes... I bought a Targus battery for my 350D and it works fine with the maufacturer charger. You save alot of money and actually the off brands make a stronger battery that is still compatible with the charger as well. Check on pricegrabber.com to make sure newegg has the best prices... sometimes I have found that when you add in shipping that another place might be more expensive.

THey will work if they say that they are compatible. But be sure to still get a name branded one (energizer or something like that)
I ordered one on ebay ($8.00 plus shipping) and it held a charge that was half of the life of the canon brand. I did not expect much but I could have put that money towards a decent one so it was ultimately a waste.
i found an energizer branded one that was compatible at Target and it was relatively inexpensive and worked perfectly.
Buying one off of line might save you some time but the returns are a bear.
YOu might do better going to Best buy or c. city and getting one there.
If you find one in the office stores (office max, office depot) you can get a $3.00 discount with an empty ink cartridge

Stick with a name brand like Sanyo or Sunpak. Compare the milliamp hours (mAh) between the 'official' batteries and your replacement. Same mAh should result in same lifetime.
