Generally churches that have abandoned the authority of Scripture buy into evolution. Naturally, not everyone in those churches buy into that, but many do.

You will find that most "mainline" denominations such as the Episcopal, Methodist, Presbyterian, and Lutheran churches tend to allow for evolution. (Granted, there are divisions within these denominations that are solidly Scriptural.)

Catholics are free to believe what they go with on evolution because it isn't a center doctrine, only concept i can make sparkling that. it isn't some form of prerequisite on being Catholic. Methodists imagine the same way, there is not any reputable stance on evolution through the church body of the United Methodists. Baptists are a concepts to distinct and divided to make any statement on. diverse denominations believe the same way, it is only fundamentalists (a minority of Christians) that rejects evolution outright. EDIT: The Catholic less than me is faulty, Catholic colleges taught evolution in the previous public colleges did interior the U. S.. also, wearing a scapular received't ward off, on condition that you stay through its practices completely will you be worth of salvation once you die. EDIT: Trolls like Fred make me so unhappy... as if all Christians deserve maltreatment interior the kind of trolling because of a few violent fundies...

I don't know about the evolution thing, but I find that the Catholics tend to be the most scientifically literate.

By the way, Gods child, where do you get your news? The Head-In-The-Sand Daily? See a good proctologist immediately to see about getting your head removed from your ***.

Probably the majority are non-denominational, like me. I'm pretty sure if I stepped foot in any church, they would try to tell me I can't believe in evolution and be Christian at the same time.

Catholics tend to be scientifically literate after the previous pope endorsed Darwinism.

Not that we needed his approval since its a fact. Oh and I don't think that other answerer, 'Icantfigureitout' (apt name) is being very nice in saying all christians are ignorant fools who dont understand how life arose and developed in to the species we see today.

Catholics believe that our first parents were Adam and Eve and that Jesus is the new Adam and Mary the new Eve. The evolution theory has never been proven nor will it be. There has never been found a transitional fossil that is from one species to another. If evolution were true there would be millions of these fossils

While it is true that Catholics have no problem with evolution -- it is also true that only a fringe group of Christian Extremists take Genesis literally.

What cracks me up about them is that they do not believe in transubstantiation. How can they say that the Bible must be taken literally, and then turn around and say that Jesus is not to be taken literally when he says "This is my body" and "this is my blood." Their inconsistency astounds me.
