I forgot some details and more pictures.
His front legs do come straight down from his body, and he has howled before. And sometimes when he barks it sounds like a howl mixed in... And he looks like he's howling.

Here's a pictrue;

The noise he makes is typical of Malamute. He really is cute! but he looks like a malamute mix.
His coat is too soft to be part wolf. They don't have a soft or silky hair, but a water repellent coarse coat.

Is his tail carried low and straight? Is his head carried low as he travels? Woves Tail is straight and low, and head is carried low when they move.

I don't think anyone can look at a dog and tell for sure what breed he is or if he is or isn't part wolf. In the picture, he looks like a howling Husky. I have a dalmation mix, and her legs come straight down from the shoulders, and she howls sometimes-- doesn't mean she's part wolf!! BTW, some of the most destructive and aggressive dogs I have ever known have been labs and shepherds!!! None of the traits you describe tag him as a wolf! But if you want to believe he is, be prepared to have your homeowner's insurance rates skyrocket (or you may lose your policy altogether), and if the local authorities find out, he may be taken away from you and put down. Just GET OVER IT and enjoy him as the mixed breed dog he is!!!

I have a wolf mix and the underside of her nails are grooved and not solid like a true dogs are. We sometimes clean out the groove for her, she can handle walking on ice very well, but her dad was Arctic wolf and her mom was Timber/Shepherd. My vet verified mine along with the state and county police departments. His face has similar structure as mine does, but he also looks like he has Collie and/or Shepherd in him. I really can't say from that picture. My wolves were never destructive, she will did holes in the ground and this is a wolf thing to either stay cool or warm. She has one that's nearly 2' deep she lays in it instead of her dog house. I don't consider this being destruction, just natural to any wolf. My girl has a muted bark and perfect pitch howl, she makes the dogs in the area sound like, well dogs. Dogs just like to dig holes. Be careful of what you say about him to people, many states/counties don't allow wolf hybrids at all. I live in an area where I can, but 1 mile down the road, Rotties, Pit bull, Dobermans, a few other breeds and wolf hybrids are prohibited. Unless you know the mayor and get permission to enter with the animal. Only time you otherwise can have them there, is to go to the vet. Like one I read said homeowners insurance gets wind, ouch or loose it all together.

Hello Isis, To know for sure if hes part wolf,You would have to see the parents of him.Did you ask to see his parents? You might want to call the person you purchased your dog from, and make an appointment to see both parents. Alot of people selling pups will tell you anything to get you to buy a puppy.Theres one thing i wanted to ask, CAN YOUR DOG HEAR???. If he can't not that can account for not being afraid of fire crackers, and other really loud noises. I purchased a queensland healer about 3 years back and she was the sweety little girl,and she never bark or pee or poop in the house.She was out in the front yard playing,and a car when down the street,she couldn't get out,but she try to catch the car.So i yelled her name, and she kept running,i try 1 more time, and she still didn't come.I test her hears and she couldn't hear a damn thing. Thats why i asked you if he could hear. Clowmy

Hi. I do have a part wolf part dog. I found her at a skating rink I worked out. She roamed miles a day. It took almost a year to catch her. I would feed her daily and one day it was raining and went to work and could not find her. I went down the street to Pets Mart (2 miles) away across the worst intersection in Florida. As I was leaving I told the cashier I had to get back tot he rink and look for the dog I was feeding because she would hide because of the rain and storms. She told me a dog ran into Linen-n-Things that same day and they had her in a cage. When I went to the back I was shocked! It was her! She had so much wrong with her but we fixed her up and she is my biggest baby! I love her so much! Your dog looks just like mine and she has wolf in her. Thank goodness we did not have to have a permit. It is 73% for a permit here and she is about 50-60%. I will post a picture as soon as I figure out how to do it! She does have hip problems and ear problems, does yours?

I answered your other question. Oh my GOSH is he pretty. Very unique beautiful dog. I want to hug him. As i said before, he could be part wolf. He looks like he may be to me in this picture. BUT he might also just be a mixed breed dog. Definitely not pure malamute. But dogs like malamutes howl also, not just wolves. And if he is a Large young dog, that also might be contributing to his destructive behavior. And i don't know what a wolf bark sounds like, so i can't help you there. But i really can't get over how beautiful he is.

People are ruling out part wolf as a possibility. But there ARE wolf hybrid dogs, and they do sometimes end up in shelters. To me he still looks like he might be a malamute/shepherd mix. But a wolf hybrid is definitely possible.

I still do not think it is part wolf. Any dog can be destructive if not trained properly. Also our chihuahuas howl too, what I call singing, but is mor like a howl and I KNOW they are not part wolf, except back millions of years ago.

Your dog may be part wolf. Maybe not in the last generation but farther back. What will help you figure it out is if he hunts does he eat what he kills? Most dogs will not eat what they kill becuase they are like immature wolves. If your dog is part wild it will be more likely to eat what he kills.

becuase he is destructive I would reccomend training him. Try Cesar Milan's book (I don't remember what it's called but it won't be hard to find). Or "How to be your dogs best friend" by The Monks of New Skete.

My friend,
my german shepherd howls constantly. As for destructiveness, it is probably due to ill training. Thank you very much. Please just give up on wanting him to be something he's not and be happy he is what he is, a loyal companion, so just be appreciative and give it up!
