I smoke and have kids but I do not smoke in the home or car. I bet that is a nasty smell to wake up to in the AM! YUCK! And I am a smoker LOL! I would try to see if they can get apartments situated where there are non smoking parts? Or find another place to live Good Luck!

It is not good for you or your children. Help is on the way. As you know anti smoking laws are going into action all over. The next objective is in multiple apartment buildings or attached condos. With the coming laws you neighbors will not be allowed to smoke in their apartment. Hang in there a little longer if you can. But, no, you are not being paranoid.

I don't think you're paranoid, if you can smell it that heavily in the morning then you should probably move. Second hand smoke like that can be very harmful for both yourself and your kids.... definitely look into a new apartment if your landlord isn't going to help you fix the situation

Get out! Second hand smoke is not good and it will affect your daughters health at some point.
Tell you landlord it's decision making time. Either they can find a new place, or you can.
I know it is hard to think about moving, but for your daughter's sake think about some new place to hang your hat!

Second hand smoke is terrible for everyone. Smoking outside will do nothing, smoke will still come in through the windows and doors. This is a tough one, I would tell the landlord it's either them or you. Good luck and do what is best for your child!!!!

No I dont think you are being paranoid because its not just the smoke that can be harmful to your baby but the thousands of chemicals in the air when the smoke is burned. Instead of moving I strongly suggest you buy an air cleaner..there is on here and it literally sucks the smoke right up and takes the smell completely out of the air..if you put one of those in your home it may make a huge difference, i know it does in mine. you can buy one from sears its called an console air cleaner..and its great...also it is with electronic coiling cell.

Yes! Second hand smoke can be very harmful to children!
Here is some info I found on the web.
Children are particularly vulnerable to the effects of secondhand smoke because they are still developing physically, have higher breathing rates than adults, and have little control over their indoor environments. Children exposed to high doses of secondhand smoke, such as those whose mothers smoke, run the greatest relative risk of experiencing damaging health effects.
*Exposure to secondhand smoke can cause asthma in children who have not previously exhibited symptoms.
* Exposure to secondhand smoke increases the risk for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
* Infants and children younger than 6 who are regularly exposed to secondhand smoke are at increased risk of lower respiratory track infections, such as pneumonia and bronchitis.
* Children who regularly breathe secondhand smoke are at increased risk for middle ear infections.
I guess you should start looking for a new place!
Good luck!

secondhand smoke can be dangerous for your health and your children's. Doctors say that after breathing other people's smoke, it can actually amount to the other person smoking a smaller fraction of that themselves.

You probably are overreacting a bit but there is not much you can do anyway. They have a right to smoke in their own home.
