Keep extra diapers, wipes, and a change of clothes in the car..even when they are in preschool!! Get one of the little portable, fold up potty chairs that fold small and use a bag to catch the "stuff" and keep that in your car too. Pin baby socks together in pairs when you take them off and through the laundry so you don't have to sort (or find!) them later. When you are busy and need some time, give your kids a cup of water, a paint brush, and some construction paper....the water makes the paper darker like they are paining, but no mess a paper towel can't clean. Pour several cups of water, juice, and milk into sippy cups at the beginning of the day (or the previous night) and store in fridge so you can just grab one when child needs a drink.

A friend who is a family counsellor one said to me, "there are some things a parent shouldn't know." When kids become a little older (say 16 on), they have to learn about some things by dealing with them. They often do so very well. But if we know about them, we must react. So, a little distance is a good thing.

My best parenting tip- remember, your kids are supposed to drive you crazy if they didn't you would never let them move out of the house and have lives of thier own. That is how I get through the hectic days.

They are little versions of you and who ever helped you make them, so treat them how you would want to be treated at that age. Also, always remember you are shaping a personality and you are the biggest effect on that persons life.

Don't even start letting them walk around in a restaraunt... it's cute when they're 1 and 1/2, it's NOT when they're 4 and racing around driving everyone crazy.

Keep a sense of humor, and try to enjoy each moment. There are so harried moments in the early years of parenthood, the tendency is to forget just how precious they really are.

dont be soft on ya kid, you end up with wussies. dont try to hide your kids from the world, it makes it harder on them when the get in to it and yes the all will eventually be on thier own. teach your kids the real value of a dollar. let them play the violent games, hey thts where i relived my stress when i was a kid, still do sometimes. let them be them selfs and love them for tht not what you want them to be. be involved in thier lives.
