The main thing is that you believe in God. I go to church to try to get a better understanding of the bible and also to interact with other christians in a place where we aren't being critisized for our beliefs. If going to a social club that does things for the community makes you feel like your doing God's work that's good. But are you also learning more about God and the way he wants us to be?

because as a christian your are suppose to be to go to church
Failing to assemble with the rest of the church is a sure way to kill your spirituality. The purpose of the assembly is encouragement of one another, as well as worship to God.
“And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:24-25)

christians go to church to fellowship with other christians and learn about god's word. sure they do good things for the community, but people dont go to church for that, they go to focus on God
