I am sorry I am now on a total daily of 4,000 Mg. Keppra, 1,200 Mg. Trileptal, 30 Mg. Cymbalta. All others no luck. I am worried about having an implant of nerve electrodes put in my Temporal Lobe area.

I do highly trust my Dr. and I thank you all for your help, Only I have ran across some goods and bads, but not with an actual patient experiencing it. I would just like to know their feelings is all. and thank you all again.

Yes, I have had the implant. And yes it worked miracles on me. I have gran-mal, and petit-mal seizures. I have been on about 20 meds since I was 6 years old. Before I got the surgery I was on 5 meds. Now I am on 3.
The pros are that you really do notice a decrease in seizures as long as you proplerly take your meds.
The cons are the feeling that you will get in your throat when the stimulator goes off. It's quite annoying. But you get used to it. The other con is the battery. It's more cosmetic than anything else. Basically it just protrudes out your chest.
But the main thing is for you to realize what is more important. A little bit of discomfort, in exchange for the possibility of being seizure free.
I have had my seizures for 26 years. I was willing to make that sacrifice, are you?

VNS is suppose to work really good for depression.. I have never heard of it working for seizures but ur doc would know more than us.. I would research it before I just assume it's the best.. VNS is still a procedure like surgery and u want to be sure u know what to do
