My aunt is very anti-social and won't accept hugs from me. I don't know how to warm up to her and it's just putting a dent in the relationship... =[ I want to be on good terms with her so... i don't know what to do.

(P.S. she is very impatient)

I have an aunt that acts the same way I just act as nice as i can to her and make sure other family members see me making the effort. My aunt is just a rather cold acting person. She just does not show too much emotion and when she states an opinion she wants you to always see things her way.. Just do your part and make the effort and she may eventually come around and be more affectionate towards you.

Some people just don't like physical contact, period. Continue the visits with her, just stop insisting on hugging her. I'm sure she's grateful that you go to see her, but feels that her space is violated when you push yourself on her. Greet her with a warm welcome and a smile, offer flowers, or chocolates, something she enjoys, and accept that those things replace the hug. If you continue to push the hug issue, she'll only withdraw. You can be on good terms with her, and >not< hug her. It's a matter of respect,... respect her spacial boundries and you'll be okay.

if you have tried and she doesn't care. that's all you can do. the next step is up to her. if she cannot receive love or give love. that is her choice. just accept her for what she is. it's her loss, not yours. you just continue to be the loving girl you are and don't let her destroy that beautiful trait you have of showing love and affection for the people you care about. some people just can't do that - be glad that you can.

You can spend time with her and get to know her and find out what she likes to talk about... show interest in her. Everybody likes that... but NOT everybody likes to hug, you might have to accept that.

Their are people who just aren't the touchy feely type. you can't change who they are so you have to respect their wishes not take it personally and move on
