Why I am a Roman Catholic:" Because I believe in Jesus Christ. I believe that He has the words of eternal life. I believe that He, being the Son of God, knew what to teach, and how to teach it, and that, consequently, what He said is law forever. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My word shall not pass away (Mark 13:31). I can only believe, therefore, in One Christianity, and that must be the ORIGINAL Christianity which came from the lips of Jesus."

I believe in the Lutheran religion, and have done much research on it.
I raised my children Catholic with my late-husband, and found it to be nearly the same (excluding the pope and saints).
I have done a lot of reading on Buddhism--and it can be practiced by people of any faith--or of no faith. You do not need to be a Buddhist to practice Buddhist traditions.
Additionally, I went to elementary school with an almost entirely Jewish population--I attended classmates temples for special events.

I understand your question, and it's definitely worth asking. A lot of the answers I have read so far keep stating that it's not about religion, but about Jesus Christ. I'm assuming that with "religion" you were referring to beliefs in general. A better question is: If you believe in Jesus Christ, why? Why don't you believe in Mohammed? Or vice versa?

And Jesus Christ is tied in with religion. Just as Mohammed is tied in with religion. Belief in a "God" does not necessarily require religion, but choosing a prophet as your savior does.

Just wanted to point that out. As for me, I'm agnostic.

There are several religions and most of them are bona fide. According to our personal desires we find a religion that will suit our needs and desires. When one goes to medical school he usually searches that school that can offer him the best training for his purpose. How can you tell what is the best religion? The purest process usually is the most advanced for one's to reach one's highest goal. Ultimately if there is a sincere desire within one's heart then the Supreme will guide one to that process.

Yes I have researched for many years before arriving at an understanding that religion is progressive and that the Prophets or Messengers, Adam, Moses, Krishna, Zoroaster, Buddha, Jesus, Muhammad, The Bab and Baha'u'llah were like the teachers in school educating humanity. As each ones time period passed another Messenger was sent to move humanity to another level.

Today our Universal Messenger is Baha'u'llah (The Glory of the Father Ez 43:1-7, who by virtue of having been the descendant of David who occupied the throne is the Messiah. Christ means Messiah which means anointed descendant of David who sits upon the throne of God in the world. The kingdom of God on earth has been established. There is a hereditary king on that throne today. To be against the actual original meaning of Christ is to be anti-christ.

Jesus was the suffering Messiah foretold in the bible by name, date, address and mission.

Baha'u'llah is the redeeming Messiah that Jesus foretold in Mark 8:38 and was foretold as well by name, date, address and mission.

If you are looking for evidence of the existence of God and His Messengers you may find satisfaction yet.
