here's an idea: buy her a necklace instead. I think a ring is a little over the top. I always wanted to get a necklace from the guy I liked.

I would try to find something very inexpensive that doesn't have a real stone in it. You probably should be able to find something for under $30 pretty easily. Also do you really know if she will agree to be your girlfriend or not. If you buy a ring, keep the receipt in case she either says no or doesn't like it.

I would go with getting her birthstone :) Or, try sterling silver with rhinestones encrusted.
Either can be really beautiful and inexpensive

i say that is a crazy idea and it would proudly freak her out for you to do such a thing when you are just asking her to be your girl friend
