This doesn't always happen, maybe just once every couple of years, but even though I don't feel dreadful, I have no voice at all. Some may say that is an advantage, but believe me, it isn't.

The cold virus does different things to different people. You probably lose your voice because your throat gets very dry and irritated. Try sucking on sore throat losenges or hard candies to keep your throat moist, and drink lots of fluids.

Inflammation of the Pharynx or larynx, sometimes the common cold infection travel further down affecting these parts. I loose my voice everytime I suffer a cold.

my mom gets that every time she has a cold or sinus infection
it just happens
