i'm a military brat, & a VERY patriotic person who would love to join the armed forces. the only thing that really is holding me back is that that i'm completely deaf in my right ear due to Meningitis when i was younger.
so i keep hearing different things from different people on whether or not i can enlist or not.
& if i can join, what jobs, other than being a desk jockey-paper pusher are available; & what jobs are not, because of my "condition"?

Sorry Johnny, but you're probably out of luck. It's been a long time since I served (Vietnam), and a lot of things have changed since then, but I don't think they've loosened up the physical requirements to the point where they'll let you in with that ear. But what the hell do I know? I've been out of the loop for a long time. Talk to a recruiter if you want to join up. They can tell you if you can sign up or not. It's their job.

With you being completely deaf in the one ear I'm not sure if you could , my son went through basic training and ait then got into a fight which left him 75% deaf in 1 ear they told him that if he can't wear a hearing aid to up his hearing they would discharge him
:( Sorry I couldn't help you but good luck.

mt brother tried to join the army and was disqualified due to hearing. he is completely deaf in his left ear. i have a friend who is completely deaf in his right ear who is in but he passed the asvab and was in a very high skilled job. he is still in but is limited to what he can do and he had to get a waiver to stay in

The best thing that you can do is to talk to someone in recruiting and go from there.

NO// You have to be able to hear commands. You could never make it in basic. I am sorry.
