I'll go first. I like Christianity because it gives an alternative to drugs and alcohol for troubled kids, teaches morals, can scare people into doing the right thing and has communities set up that donate to poorer countries.

Jehovah witnesses and Mormons usually are very nice when they come to my door because they never really expect a Christian to know anything about the Bible so if I start talking about why are women preaching to men when the Bible says they should not. Or why do their women cut there hair when the Bible says they should not I find they take this much better than many so called Christians and at least they make efforts to speak about the Bible to people, and make reasonable answers rather than get angry and run away.

I like all religions because they distract humans from the thought of death. I'm athiest so I have put some thought into this. If everyone on the earth were athiest, and had no belief system for an afterlife, the world would be crazy. I mean people have literally gone insane thinking about this stuff. I would compare it to the society in 'Children of Men.'

Well I try not to bash religions so yes I can say nice things about them. When I was thrown out of my mothers house, Christian friends took me in and I feel they have a strong community for those that need it.
Islam acctually imporved the situation of women in the middle east when it was first established.
I would like to say also, this is the best question I have ever seen posted. Thanks for doing the opposite of what usually happens here.
I would like one person to say one nice thing about atheists.

Why would you ever say something positive about religion, it spreads ignorance. So what if they do positive things? They do it in the name of ignorance. The skinhead movement promotes the white race in general and would do anything for anyone of the white race, but you don't want them around your children. Why? Because they promote ignorance. You think that if religion wasn't around, people wouldn't teach that you shouldn't do drugs, or organizations wouldn't form to help out needy people? Of course they would. The whole time your children are around those Christians they will be trying to convert him to their ways. Think about that. They will be trying to make your child ignorant of what science tells us today. I wouldn't have my children around anyone of any group that didn't believe as I do. If you feel the need to do something positive that is fine. There are plenty of groups without religious undertones that you could devote your time to.

I like your question! (And as a Christian, I very much appreciate your response.)

I don't *bash* any religion - I leave that to the hatemongers of the world - but since I don't often think about certain ones, I guess, sadly, that would actually qualify me for the "ignore" category.

I'm shamed to admit that all my knowledge of the Navajo religion comes from Tony Hillerman novels, but based on what I've gleened from them, I like the way when someone commits a crime or does something wrong, they don't look for vengence or try to exact punishment, but instead look to praying for that person and trying to heal whatever is out of balance within him. I think that's an amazing philosophy and one many of us could learn from.

The Cookie Monster...you are super fine!

a belief system that i usually bash?
hmmmmm
i can't think of any w/labels right now.

but, i don't much care for the practice of preaching intolerance....
so, i'll say...
those who are intolerant
are at least
paying attention to others around them
--and, awareness is good.

I don't bash any religion--though some should quit trying to convert everyone else to their way of thinking.

I do pretty much ignore religions outside of the Christian denominations, Judiasm, and Buddhism--and have no desire to be educated on them.

Okay, something nice...Islam innocent women and children should not be victims of this war. (Sorry, don't know anything else about the faith).

it can be good when people arent fighting over whos god is better. if they really was a better god dont you think they can fight thier own battles? or are they having to much fun watching us die. usually religion teachs vaules and morals. some times though people warp the words and use it to back up thier own agenda. but if religion helps some people feel safe and not alone and helps them get through thier day and nights easier then yeah its cool. but whne its the source of fueding and wars then no its not good.

It's kinda hard for me to say nice/bad things bout other people's religion because of the fact that any comments are usually one-sided; Everyone wants to hear positive things bout their own religion.
But when it comes to saying the bad side of it, people just go ballistic towards it and there goes the war!
Well hey! i agree with you on your answer for your own question.

I usually bash the Pope; not the many good natured Catholics. So now since I have researched the way the Pope spends his money, I do have a compliment for him.

He is one Hell of a businessman.
