Do you actually believe that the same idiots running around Iraq killing each other and our troops, will hop on a plane and come here and plant IEDs on the streets of New York? And what's stopping someone now (in regards to being in Iraq) from getting backing from Syria and coming here, buying explosives and detonating a bomb there? I realize we finally are better at intercepting cells operating here, but how is it related to Iraq? No Iraqi was involed in 9/11. Do you actually think if we stay in Iraq long enough everyone with hatred for the U.S. will go to Iraq to die and not just skip that country and come here instead. In'nt this underestimating the enemy to say "fight them there instead of here"

what I'm saying is, the war in Iraq does nothing in itself to keep a fanatic "over there" it just gives one more reason for a fanatic to want to come "over here" if he finds a way in. Seems like the best way to keep them "over there" is to not let them "over here" by tightening our borders and just letting them kill each other. No one bitched about "shock and awe" why did we take it to the ground. It's proven nowadays not to work. Sean Hannity kepps asking " Do you not believe with all or resources, we can win?" We don't even know what winning will entail. Occupation and more soldiers doing worthless patrols in a god-forsaken part of the world for 50 years? You'll never kill all the fanatical muslims in a area thats not even their own. We are going to have to bomb the whole M.E. or get out. Why can't our own govt. at least be honest with us how this shaping up to be bigger than they anticipated. I feel lied to big time. And this is after spending a year there. On your dime.

It's not, that is the only thing bush could come up with to sell the war since there wasn't any wmds.

The fact that no WMDs were found does not mean none ever existed. That's the kind of reasoning that gets people in deep trouble. There's no proof yet that Iran is not after a nuclear bomb. There was no proof that North Korea was either, until they admitted to having one. Nobody believed the US had an atom bomb, till two were dropped on Japan. And nobody believed terrorists were really a threat, till 9-11. The WMDs that Iraq had are most likely the same ones now turning up in the caves of Afghanistan and Pakistan, smuggled all over, buried all over, and otherwise hidden from being found. There's likewise no proof that we still have terrorists on US soil, to bring the fight "over here." It'll take another WTC or two to wake people up to that.

Do I believe it? Yes I do. They got on planes and came over here before. Remember Sept 11?? Ever hear of Al Queda in Iraq?
If you still believe the invasion of Iraq was revenge for 911, you need to go rethink your position. Nobody ever said that. Terrorism knows no country. It does know money and Saddam was providing that as well as safe havens for known terrorists. Yes, I do think the animals in Iraq are so ignorant and blinded by their beliefs that an American is an American and they believe that killing Americans there is their mission. So yes, while they are fighting (and dying there) they are not coming here or planning to come here.
That's is evidenced by the Clinton administration. They attacked us in 1993 and several times after. He did nothing, they kept coming. Bush has done something. They have stopped coming. Facts are facts. That's a soldiers job, unfortunately, to die to protect their country.

well if all the us soldiers left iraq then that would provide a safe haven for the terrorists to operate, plan, and become stronger. they will be able to work with other groups in the region and launch many attacks on us soil. why give them that chance?
no iraqi was involved in 9-11 but iraq DOES have terrorists alive and well now. so going after them would prevent an attack on US soil. not to say that only iraqis are planning to attack us; we have to worry about islamic 'extremists' from all over the world who hate us!

it cant be for terrorist, Iraq is just one place where they claim that as a safe haven, if we are in there solely for terrorists then we have a lot of work to do. and i dont see how we can win or lose the war, we are in their to bring stability to the country and from how i am understanding it we are not fighting against the insurgents, we are clearly beating them!

the argument of fighting in Iraq is that so we dont have to be fighting on the street of New York or Los Angeles or anyother US city. Arent you happy that we dont have to have the fight here in the USA. Its much better fighting the battles in Baghdad.

There is this new theory that the war in Iraq keeps the terrorists "over there". And - as the theory goes - "if we fight them there, we won't have to fight them here."

if it was up to me we would put a permanent base there for every branch of the military. we should never give state sponsored terrorist nations a 9 month head start to prepare army's, hide weapons and destroy evidence

The war is letting the terrorists jnow that we wont be bullied...If we did nothing, they'd cause more attacks to inflict fear...if we show they don't scare us the won't try as much
