I would be careful using a "people" shampoo, as terriers are known to have sensitive skin. Most shampoos for people have a lot of soap in them, which actually will dry your dogs skin out. Try *efa HyLyt Shampoo with Essential Fatty Acids. It is soap free (it still suds up and stuff it just doesn't have the soap agents in it) and it really good for terriers (I have a Cairn and use it on him). You usually can buy this from your vet, or from a local Pets Store such as Petco or Petsmart. It's about $14 for a bottle, but will last you forever (I am still on the same bottle and my dog's 2 years old now).

You shouldn't use human shampoos on dogs as they are not PH balanced for their skin and will cause problems that you don't want (i.e. hot spots, dandruff, eczema). The main problem being that our shampoos are too drying for them, as well as if you get any in their eyes it will burn. You should always use a shampoo specially formulated for dogs and there are ones even formulated for specific breeds. You can purchase many of these dog shampoos at your local Wal-Mart or department store or at a pet store there would be more selection. They are quite inexpensive and you usually don't need to use very much as they are fairly concentrated.

The biggest thing is how old is your yorkie?? For those younger than 12 weeks,,,,,,,,,Lemon Detergant for washing dishes. If she is older,,,,consult your vet........Most dog shampoos are good but her being a yorkie needs a conditioner. Good Luck

Dogs shouldn't smell a day after a bath. Dogs only need to be bathed once a month. Or every coupke months. Overbathing can cause oil glands to go into overdrive and cause the smell. If that's not the problem, research raw diets. Many commercial dog foids can cause smell problems.
