What is human nature first tendency ? To defy rules and go their own way. Take a toddler for instance, how many times must you tell him no, before he believes you ? Or teach him, til he believes you ?? It is rebellion. Our own will to do as we please, irregardless of the consequences, or who we hurt with our behaviors, or choices, etc. Selfishness toward others. I dont care what you think, I will do as I choose, and the more so, because you told me not to !! Well, its true, isnt it?

I don't come from a strict church upbringing but I still got disowned for being gay. I think same-sex married sex is the best, got no time for guilt.

If it's true, it can be explained by the "strictness". Legalism should not belong in a Christian church. Where it exists, it causes a lot of psychological, spiritual and moral problems.
While immorality can happen in any church setting, as sin is common to all humans, it seems to happen more than anywhere else in those kinds of churches that try to be extremely legalistic and "holier than thou". Because people in that perfectionist kind of setting don't face up to their weaknesses, and hide them instead of dealing with them.
