Yes they are accepted just about everywhere in Thailand. As to WHERE, you will find that most banks will do the exchange for you. In Bangkok, you will find money exchange facilities just about everywhere (not just banks). Thailand is accustomed to foreign tourists and money exchange is never a problem. Just don't exchange your traveller cheques at the hotels as they don't give you a good rate.

If you were to go outside Bangkok, but not at other major tourist sites (eg. Chiangmai, Pattaya, Phuket, Koh Samui - for example) then there might not be money exchange booth readily available. Then you might have to go to a bank. One way around this is to cash a large enough amount of cash before you go to country areas - just don't flash your money around. Thailand may be a friendly place but - like everywhere in the world, there are the thieves and pickpockets. BE SECURITY CONSCIOUS!

Consider using ATM cards or Travelex card. These are very convenient as long as each time you withdraw an amount of cash worth the withdrawal fees.

ATM in Thailand spits out Baht out of your position economic corporation and is perfect way because it resources Thai money and in small quantities as needed. in case you deliver any overseas money, it will be the most new us of a one hundred dollar bill; banks received't take the different and shops do no longer go with overseas money.

They are accepted in the banks and currency exchange booths. But I will recommend that you bring an international ATM card which will be easier to withdraw money directly while in Thailand. No commission to pay too. And you get better inter-bank exchange rate.

The banks and currency exchange places at the airport, actually take them & give a good exchange rate but I ended up using the visa / mastercard more. Most everyone took them ( except the little mom & pop stores)

Pretty much everywhere takes them. Just don't get yourself in a small town in the middle of nowhere with only travellers checks.
