forcing someone to sign a document stating when they will copulate is silly and ineffective. If you make a personal pledge not to have sex until marriage thats different and it really depends on the person and their future relationships.

I don't believe they make it MORE likely that you'll do it. I know there was some study out there to that effect but I don't buy it. I'm sort of the opposite, though...I didn't sign a pledge but I DID wait until marriage. I think your beliefs and really understanding the REASONS for waiting, not just because it's a sin but because of all the other consequences, are more important than signing a piece of paper.

Well darling, I've vowed to wait and I will stick to my guns as much as possible. I haven't met a guy worth spreading my legs to yet. Hahaha, they just don't have the all the requirements and I simply can't "bone" some dude just for the sake of just doing it.

Hahaha, I'm not mindless ;)

Oh and by the way, I'm spiritual ... but not religious. So you see, anybody can pledge ;)

I pledged abstinence and it's not a matter of working it's whether or not you stuck with it all depends on your reasons why you vowed to wait and your values. Some pledge isn't gonna work if waiting is not in your morals

A pledge of virginity? In Christianity, my religion, no premarital sex. So there are no vows that's something that you're just not supposed to do for your own benefits, if you do it, it's at your own risk. I am still a virgin and so is the Christian man I'm with. Though I want to do it with him and he with me, we've already established that after we're married is the only time we'll do that.

I think any virginity pledge should be until you finish high school, no further beyond that. Waiting till you marry is just no a workable situation. By waiting, it's a gamble to see if you enjoy it with a particular guy, and if you marry and it doesn't, you're stuck.
That doesn't mean you should screw everyone, but when you are getting serious, you just have to do it.
Good luck

I doubt they work.

When you're in a tempting position, I doubt anyone who is 15-17 is going to say "nope, I signed that pledge thing!"

I suspect that the people who keep virginity pledges are, for the most part, people who nobody wanted to boink in the first place.

You can't really say your going to wait so long until its til marriage. When the time is right and your both ready then you'll do it, I don't think you should have a pledge.

depends on the circumstances...mostly depends on the kid.

If the kids are just told to line up and sign a card, then no. I have seen this at some churches. Not a whole lot of soul searching or preaching was done before they just started handing out cards. This makes it seem phony and symbolic, which it isn't, but you get my drift.
