I used to have chronic fatigue so bad I slept for 18 hours a day; Now I rare to never even nap, with plenty of energy to get the things done for the day. I offer to you my experience as to what I have found and what has worked for me.

It sounds like among other things that your adrenal system is probably knocked down from the stimulants. Stimulants rob Peter to pay Paul so to speak. They are a short term gain long term loss.

I advise among many other things to take a supplement for the adrenal system. I prefer formulas but Ginseng by itself can do wonders.

Also do not forget to work out this is fundamental in generating more energy. You do not have to knock yourself out either. Just break a sweat 3-4 times a week. I suggest Yoga, Tai Chi, and speed walking as they do not wear down the body in the process of exercise.

Finally avoid sugars and other refined carbs like the plague. They not only weaken the adrenal system which is directly related to blood sugar levels, but can also wreck havoc on the heart. Adult onset diabetes is the fastest growing disease in America because our entire food industry has radically changed in the last hundred years.

Try eating wheat breads, pastas, and brown or wild rices instead of whites. Avoid the cakes, cookies, pastries, donuts, etc. When you really want something sugary try using unrefined cane sugar, raw honey, and other alternative less refined sweeteners.

Best of wishes in dealing with this issue. I feel for you but know there is hope you just have to be willing to make the right choices.

Do you have a radon detector? You might want to check it out just to be sure. I know that you said that you're not depressed but sleeping to much is a sign of depression so I would also get a check up, it's possible that there might be some other medical reason that your Dr. might discover.
A few things that you could do right away is to make sure that your diet is healthy, try to exercise at least three times a week. Also get out of the house and get some fresh air, maybe go to a movie or out to dinner with some friends.
Hope you start feeling better soon :)

You didn't say how old you are or what your diet is like. I had the same problem (being tired all the time). I am an insomniac with a junk food "addiction". Once I gave up 99% of the junk and started working out, I had amazing amounts of energy! I hate working out, but I enjoy being awake and alert instead of tired all the time so I keep at it. It also helps with my insomnia.

Hello Rag Doll,

Maybe you are just worrying yourself to death! But it would be good for you to see a doctor anyway. I was like that for a long time, then I had a heart attack, they gave me pills and I've been getting better and better ever since. The attack was six months ago, the blood supply is much better now, and the tiredness is almost gone.

Still, I'd like to know why!

Go to your doctor because sleeping this much is not normal. You need to eat healthy, exercise and learn to enjoy life. Read funny books or watch funny things on TV. Go get some counseling also.
