It means this: There is someone at school that is your enemy and you hate that person. In the cafeteria you meet a few people and find out that they also consider that person an enemy and you all become friends because you share a common enemy. If you met someone in the cafeteria that was the friend of your enemy you wouldn't be friends with that person for obvious reasons. So I hate Joe, you hate Joe, we hate Joe, we are friends. OR I hate Joe, you like Joe, we are not friends. It's that simple!

If you have an enemy and I have the same enemy then we have something in common. That commonality can be built on and we can work together as friends to hurt our shared enemy. an example would be WWII. Not all of the Allies were friends, but all were enemies of the Axis powers. We were not against Germany until Japan united with them and then attacked us. That was the whole reason we joined the war. We did not like what Germany was doing but it did not directly effect us so the decision was made not to join the fight. Can you imagine what would have happened if Japan had been one of the Allied powers? We would have fought w/ Germany. The enemy of my enemy is my friend and the friend of my enemy is my enemy. hope that is what you were looking for.
