Hey guys, have a quick question for you. I just went to a theater show the other day and when I handed my ticket to the man at the door, I noticed there was a cut on his hand. I'm not sure if the cut was still bleeding or not, but it freaked me out. The cut was on his thumb, right next to his nail. You know how somthinges skins peels away from your fingernail in like a little sliver? Well he took my ticket, and tore it, handing it back to me afterwords. I don't think my skin came in contact with his, but I'm worried he may have gotten blood on my ticket. I touched the ticket, of course, after he gave it back to me, and I'm worried that he might have had HIV or Hep C. I threw the ticket away but I am still worried. Am I at any risk? Also that night I touched my hair. If there was blood on the ticket, could that blood now be in my hair? Will a simple hot shower wash it out, or do I need to do something more drastic, like cut some of it off, where the blood touched? Please help!
Thanks

You would have to have an open wound to have it transmitted to you. If you don't have any open wounds on your hands where you touched his blood you are fine.
Blood washes away with soap and water you don't need anything more. HIV only lives outside the body for 30 minutes. If you touched your hair you would only get it if it had been within 30 minutes and you have an open wound on your head.

ZERO RISK. Hiv and Hep C arnt contracted this way! Definatly not Hep C. Your skin is a good barrier against HIV. HIV cannot enter through intact skin. Stop thinking about it.

Relax, unless you have an open cut on your hand, hiv transmission impossible. Hepatitis virus , is actually more viruelent, but in this instance transmission is nearly impossible. Do you have an open cut on your hand? Virus's are not transmitted via hair. A simple shampoo will be just fine.

i dont know about the hepatitis, but i do know that the HIV virus dies very quickly once it's outside the body, so you should be fine on that count. Better to go to the doctor though, about the hepatitis.
