Pink Floyd was very influential, I remember "the Wall" had a great affect on me and I listened to it very early on, I remember seeing pink floyd the wall movie as a child on PBS. a bit later on I really liked "animals", "meddle", and "wish you were here' all very influential and powerful lyrically.
also, the Beatles and Led Zeppelin, Rush.

Christmas music, doo-wop, 1950s early rock, Elvis,
some church hymns, old Motown, some classic rock,
quite a few power ballads, and more recently
classical music.

I favour individual songs more than general categories, for example:
1. The Glory of The Lord from Messiah, composed by Handel
2. Suspicious Minds by Elvis
3. I'll Be there by Four Tops
4. Music of the Night from Phantom of the Opera
5. God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen by Perry Como
6. Respect by Aretha Franklin
7. Kashmir by Led Zeppelin

Music doesn't make the person. The person makes the music.

Anyway, I like todays Christian music but I used to like country and I grew up in the 70's so I like the music of the day then too.

Nice question... I grew up in California in the 60's... Crosby, stills and Nash.

Currently... I like John Mayer... "waiting for the world to change" and Natasha Bettingford (sp?) "Unwritten" as well as new one by the Dixie Chicks about "I'm not Sorry."

Did someone say 'Iron Butterfly"? Yes... I remember them!

Sometimes it is music that helps us learn... that's why we sing our ABC's.

music is influential. I do like listening to Christian music. What you listen to, who you hang around and what you watch often becomes part of you. Make sure youre not listening, watching and being with people who speak of violence, drugs, killing, adultry, fighting, hate, racism, guns etc. all the time.

interesting question. I am a musician myself. God made me who I am, He gave me the gift of music, and if I use that for His Glory then I will be who He has created me to be.
