From what I've read, Emos are supposed to be the "new" Goths. I don't know if this is true or not because I don't consider myself Emo. I'm Goth. Anyway, my first reaction was that Emo's were whiny wannabe's who (maybe) faked depression and cut on themselves. I got this impression working with and being around teenage girls who had mental health issues. It just seemed like being Emo was "cool" so they all wanted to be Emo. I got the impression that it didn't matter who you really were or what you really liked, that you needed to conform to certain things to be considered Emo. Pretty ridiculous. Goths wouldn't conform to fit in. Also what is up with cutting and Emo being associated?!? Self-harm is something serious, not something to do so people will think you are Emo. Also it seems like Emo is just about an image, not about who you are. Like I said though, I could be completely wrong. This is just what I've read and what I've seen.

ummm.... no offence but I think Emos are hypocrites that whine too. much. i mean, they are really creative. And I think thats pretty cool. but why do they keep talking about pain and how life sucks and stuff? I find it very annoying. There are people starving and Africa for cryin' out loud! I see a lot of them on the internet whining about how they are stereotyped and misunderstood, yet they stereotype LOTs of other people. I'm really sorry if I've offended you. But this is just my opinion....I dont know any emos in real life.

emo stands for emotional. they are kinda like goth but not that extreme and kinda like punks. they are all supposed to be depresed and cut and stuff but it is just a sterotype.
most of the emo guys are hot tho.

its a horrible play on gothics to try to get attention but gothic is an actual religion branched off Wiken so get over yourself your life is not that bad so stop being so f***** dramatic!

like all labels and stereotypes, pointless.
true, dressing a way that is supposed to reflect how you feel makes sense. but labelling yourself based on those emotions (or, probably, the way you dress) doesn't.

i dont know any personally but i like their music i love fall out boy, dashboard confessional.. etc and yeh i love the hairstyles too pretty wierd but looks like fun.
