I am as amazed as you at how these individuals here who answered your questions keep calling her "a traitor" and spewing forth such hate. The war in Vietnam is over - time to move on.
I have no moral judgements to make about Jane Fonda, personally I admire Daniel Ellsberg, Daniel Sheehan, and Robert MacNamara. I think it's time some of these individuals stopped hating, and read up about American and the war in Vietnam from both sides.

The Jane Fonda story that keeps getting repeated is not about Jane Fonda or Hanoi or the Vietnam War. It was when it first happened, but it keeps getting repeated now as a way of mobilizing and controlling voters on the right and right-of-center. There is a narrative on the right, that is often used or made reference to, that Hollywood is left wing and anti-war, that the anti-war movement is anti-American and treasonous, that they will always remain so, that the rest of the Democrats and the left are associated with them and that the whole bunch are the main thing that is wrong with America.
Of course, some people think all that is true and some of us think it is hardly true at all. To the degree it is true, though, Jane Fonda sitting at that AA gun is the perfect illustration of it. Therefore, the right brings it up to replay and reinforce their claims about America. If you're a centrist and you're unsure about Iraq ... remember Jane Fonda. If you hear a Democrat like Kerry or Murtha talk about Iraq and what they say makes sense, stop and think of Jane Fonda. If (at some time when foreign policy is not front and center) you think the Democrats have something to offer, think of Jane Fonda. Admire Bill Clinton's policies? Think of Jane Fonda.
It is a rhetorical tool along the lines of Remember the Maine or Remember the Alamo.

How dare you mention John "want to go home early" Kerry & jane Fonda. She & karry did nothing to end the war. Kerry broke military law by testifing beforthe committe as a active personnel. Jane Fonda broke the law. She gave aid & comfort to the enemy. When I came home from Nam with a bullet in my ankle I was spit on & beat because I did my duty. Was Kerry spit on or beat. NO he was welcome by the sleaze balls of Washington as a hero . Hero my A**. He was the best thing the CONG had going for them All he did ( without proof) was condem his military friends. Jane Fonda should have gone to jail for traviling to a country that was off limites because we were at war with them. But the gutless wonders of the goverment needed the Hollywood vote. I invited her to join me in NAM but she never got back to me. I guess she liked the enemy instead of Americans. But I dont know of any vietnamies who saw her movies.

Jane Fonda is a highly intelligent and talented woman. She helped to stop the useless Vietnam War, and now she is doing the same for this useless war. I am not sure that I understand all of your question, because it would seem that you do not speak very good English.

I don't watch her films because she is a traitor, pure and simple. It was one thing to be against the war, wanting the troops to come home, wanting an end to US involvement. It was entirely another thing, a heinous, evil act to support the killing of US service men in Vietnam. Sitting in an antiaircraft gun showed that.
She can whine all she wants about being young and how sorry she is, but she did it and she is responsible.

She actively collaborated with the enemy, taking their side and telling their lies for them, on their territory, against her own country. She didn't just protest, she made FALSE accusations against our nation's service members which she KNEW were lies at the time. People suffered and DIED because of her lies. That's called treason, and it's punishable by death.
Kerry's behavior also meets the definition of treason. If there were any justice or pride left in this country, he would never see the outside of a prison cell again.

Hanoi Jane has been and always will be a *****. John Kerry's testimony should have been the basis of his trial for treason.

Well, hopefully, she will decide to mingle with these death squads and try to befriend them, than they will videotape her in an orange jumpsuit, with her thinking she is helping them out, but in reality, the actually do cut her throat. That, or she gets blown up by a suicide bomber on live television.

She took letters from soldiers that were tortured in vietnam and gave them to the vietnamese instead to the families so they can be used against the soldiers. That is a person that is pro American and a person who is a good person?
All she achieved is that A lot of American and vietnamese people died for nothing.
